A Wrinkle in Time dominated the US box office. Black Panther was the top performer while A Wrinkle in Time was number two. There was a lot of hype when the movie was released. Here’s what people had to say.
The movie’s budget
A Wrinkle in Time was Director, Ava DuVernay’s first science fiction film with a 9 figure budget.
This huge budget made movie fans eager to see the movie.
The film was able to make more than US$103 million in the States alone.
However, the film did not do good as far as the Box Office is concerned. This is despite being ranked highly in terms of Box Office earnings.
The movie compared to the original book
The Disney Fantasy is a children’s movie adapted from the book “A wrinkle of Time” by Madeleine L’Engle ’s. The plot in the story is of a thirteen-year-old girl Meg Murry and her adopted brother, Charles Wallace who venture in search of their lost father.
Mr Murry mysteriously disappeared when Meg was very young. She has to fight terrible evils to get him back. The children are joined on the quest by the enchanting Mrs Whatsit(Reese Witherspoon), Mrs Who(Mindy Kaling) and Mrs Which (Oprah Winfrey).
Many movie critics are saying that the film used too many Computer Generated Images (CGI). On top of that, the movie left out some parts of the book. For instance, the Mrs W’s wore more flashy and carefully detailed outfits and Mrs Whatsit turns in to a flower-like creature that flies instead of horse-human hybrid that has wings. Charming right? But the movie turned out alright, especially if you watched it with a kid.
