Mo Salah Scooped African Footballer of the Year Again

It’s not a surprise that the Egyptian King Mo Salah has been once again crowned the African Footballer of the year. The Liverpool playmaker overlapped his counterparts, his fellow Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane and Arsenal’s striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The ceremony took place in Dakar Senegal. The former AC Milan striker and Liberian president George Weah graced this prestigious ceremony. This is not the first time the aforesaid players have faced off. They were nominees last year when Salah leapfrogged his famous opponent to the prestigious award. As if that is not enough the Egyptian maestro was also voted the BBC African Footballer of the Year in December.

Clearly, awards are spinning at a very fast rate like online slot machines for the Egyptian.

Mo Salah Road to Success

Clearly one can vindicate why the Reds playmaker has been showered with a lot of prestigious awards. Since his move from Roma to Anfield, Mohamed has been the main talk of every pundit including football fans. His marvellous performance for Liverpool on his debut season made him be crowned the English Premier League top goalscorer with a whopping 44 goals, 14 more ahead of Harry Kane.

Salah’s consistency in front of goal helped Liverpool to reach the Champions League final which they lost against Real Madrid. Above all, the nominees were included in the African Team of the year. With  Manchester City’s Riyad Mahrez Spurs full-back Serge Aurier all included.

Moreover, it is also fair to clarify that Salah’s dominance in Africa and Europe has made Egypt be announced as the nation that will host the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
